Today, King Charles kicked off the royal family’s annual Christmas celebrations with a lunch at Buckingham Palace, but apparently not everyone RSVP’d “yes” to the festive event. 

According to People, Kate Middleton, Prince William, and their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—were missing from this year’s luncheon, as they already traveled to Norfolk for the holidays, which is more than 100 miles away from London. But the outlet noted that the Prince and Princess of Wales are “looking forward to catching up with family at Sandringham over Christmas as usual.”  

Despite William and Kate’s absence, Charles still hosted several members of the royal family at Buckingham Palace, including his younger brother Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, the late queen’s cousin Flora Vesterberg, and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice. 

Also missing from the event was Prince Andrew and Sarah Feruson, who canceled their appearances amid the Duke of York’s suspected connection to a Chinese spy. Per People, Andrew reached his decision after “discussing the matter with his ex-wife, the Duchess of York, who convinced him that this was the right move.” Andrew also won’t be attending the royal family’s Christmas gathering at Sandringham next week. 

Prince Andrew and Ferguson, known as Fergie, divorced in 1996 after a decade of marriage, but the two remain close and reside at Royal Lodge together in Windsor. 

In light of Andrew’s recent scandal, the Duchess of York is still one of her ex-husband’s biggest supporters and even revealed that she would marry him “all over again” if she had to the chance. “I was totally and utterly in love with Andrew,” Fergie told The Sunday Times. “I would do it all over again, 100 percent. He’s the best, a great man with a great heart, and kind. Our wedding was the best day of my life. But I gave up my anonymity that day. I was able to because love conquers all. It’s still with us today. I won’t let him down.”
